Damian Conforti focuses his practice in the areas of criminal litigation, personal injury and complex commercial litigation at the federal and state levels in New Jersey and New York. Damian has served as lead counsel in numerous civil and criminal trials in federal district court and at the state and municipal level. He has represented municipalities and government officials, international and domestic corporations, non-profit organizations and individuals in civil disputes and with respect to criminal charges, grand jury subpoenas and investigations by federal and state law enforcement and regulatory and administrative agencies. He believes in aggressive investigation and negotiation from the outset to achieve early and effective resolutions when possible and has achieved several large civil settlements for victims of personal injuries.

His representative matters include the following: lead defense counsel for municipality and its officials accused of constitutional and civil rights violations in a federal district court trial; withdrawal of federal charges of tax evasion and fraud against a non-profit agency and its officers; dismissal of accounting malpractice and ethics complaints before the state accountancy board; dismissal of drug trafficking charges involving more than one pound of marijuana; dismissal of a $130,000 theft complaint by national retail corporation; and several dismissals of DWI charges.

Prior to joining Podvey Meanor, Damian served as an assistant prosecutor with the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office where he handled hundreds of matters from homicides to drug offenses in the investigative stages through trial and appeal. He also served as law clerk to the Honorable Lawrence P. DeBello, J.S.C., in the Hudson County Criminal Division and Family Part.

Damian is admitted to practice in New Jersey, New York and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. He is a member of the Criminal Justice Act Panel (CJA) for the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and is one of 100 attorneys in New Jersey appointed to defend individuals charged with federal crimes and offenses.
